After a new ownership has been established in the Washington Commanders franchise, there’s been a new sense of hope that has returned for the franchise’s history after years of issues on and off the field.
A new ownership group was ultimately chosen by the previous owners, who provided the franchise's massive mess of problems during their tenure, marking a turning point for the Commanders on July 21, 2023.
It was the day that former Commanders owner Dan Snyder, sold the team to D.C. native and sports owner Josh Harris for $6.05 billion. It was a heavy workload for Harris as a lot of change was needed after the previous poor management. Harris took over during the 2023-2024 season with a short time to prepare as the season was underway.
With the new management, it was a make or break season for the franchise to bring back the enjoyment and excitement for the fans as they finally pulled a full reset for the franchise after the 4-13 finish for the 2023 season. As they fired their entire coaching and office staff to truly bring a true rebuild.
It didn’t take long for Harris and company to get right to work to improve what they were given and after the grading report that was sent out on the NFL about performances on facilities, stadium and fan experiences.
The Commanders were ranked last out of all teams in almost all categories, receiving either a D or F grades all across the board except for strength coaches and weight room about the franchise’s state of quality during the 2022-23 season, which was Snyder’s last full season. The report cards grading are based on the players, staff and families comments and thoughts about all of the listed categories.

There was a lot of work that needed to be done by this new ownership and so far they have been having a successful start to revive the Commanders franchise back to its old glories in hope to bring back the excitement in Washington, D.C. football.
During Harris’s first season, changes couldn’t be made since the team was preparing for the upcoming season and with his best efforts, he was able to build up better grading with less failing grade and more positive grading for the franchise’s state of quality for the 2023-24 season.

Harris and company were now fully prepared for their first NFL offseason with a drive and determination to rebuild the Commanders with their 2024 Offseason Changes. They also started a third season of their own documentary series “Commanders Log” to allow the fans to see the breakdown of the changes made during the offseason.
The season is currently underway and so far the changes that Harris has promised to the fans, has worked and has truly brought back the excitement in Commander's football. Tickets and jersey sales have risen, the team has earned their best start since 2008, with a 6-2 record. Harris isn’t done, but he’s already on schedule for a revival of the Washington Commanders.
